Our home provides specialist care and support for adults with complex needs, including those experiencing alcohol dependence and dual diagnosis. We take a respectful approach and offer a safe, structured, and supportive environment where individuals can stabilise, rebuild, and move forward at their own pace.
Life at The Heathers
A key part of our approach is the delivery of a structured, monitored alcohol programme. This enables residents to safely manage their alcohol use within a controlled and supportive setting, reducing risks while promoting stability and engagement with support.
Providing consistent, compassionate care
Our team work alongside residents to monitor alcohol use, support physical and emotional wellbeing, and encourage positive, sustainable change at a pace that feels manageable.
Promoting independence is central to life within the home. Residents are supported to take part in daily living tasks, helping people regain confidence and develop a sense of routine and responsibility.
This includes practical activities such as preparing meals in our accessible kitchen, managing personal laundry, and maintaining their own living space, alongside developing essential life skills like budgeting and managing finances. Our aim is to create a supportive community where residents feel respected, encouraged, and able to regain control of their lives, with guidance every step of the way.

Zena Cornforth
Registered Manager
Zena is the Home Manager and has been a dedicated part of the service for over 13 years. Starting her career in care here, she has worked her way up through the team to become Manager, giving her a deep understanding of both the residents we support and the staff who care for them.
She holds an NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care and has also studied Uniformed Public Services at college, followed by Criminology and Criminal Justice at university. This unique combination of experience and education has helped shape her confident, balanced approach to managing a diverse client group, particularly individuals with complex needs linked to alcohol use.
Zena is known for being hardworking, approachable, and understanding. She builds strong, genuine relationships with residents, meeting people where they are and communicating in a way that feels real and respectful. At the same time, she maintains clear boundaries and ensures the home remains a safe, structured, and supportive environment for everyone.
Katie Fieldhouse
Deputy Manager
Katie Fieldhouse returned to the team as Deputy Manager in January 2026, having previously worked within the home in a variety of roles. Katie supports the day-to-day management of the home, helping to ensure high standards of care, effective leadership, and full compliance with safeguarding and regulatory requirements. She is passionate about delivering truly person-centred care and works closely with both residents and staff to maintain a safe, supportive, and positive environment.
Katie holds a Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care and has a particular interest in the Mental Capacity Act 2005, ensuring that residents’ rights, choices, and independence are always respected. With extensive experience supporting individuals affected by substance misuse, including alcohol dependency, Katie brings both compassion and professionalism to her role. She is committed to continuous learning and to supporting residents to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Useful information
Yes. We have designated outdoor smoking areas where residents can smoke safely. We ask everyone to be considerate of others and follow the home's smoking guidelines.
The Heathers is a specialist service supporting people living with alcohol dependency. Each resident has an individual support plan, and where alcohol is part of this, it is managed safely in line with agreed risk assessments and care plans.
We encourage residents to remain as independent as possible. Many people enjoy spending time in the local community, and, depending on individual needs and risk assessments, residents are free to come and go independently or with support.
Absolutely. Family and friends are always welcome to visit during sociable hours. We simply ask that, where possible, visits avoid meal times, as these are busy periods within the home.
Yes. Every resident has their own private space, which they are encouraged to personalise with photographs, ornaments and other belongings to help it feel like home.
Yes. Residents are welcome to order takeaway meals or enjoy the nutritious home-cooked meals prepared by our kitchen team.
No. Activities are entirely your choice. We offer a variety of opportunities both in the home and out in the community, and residents are free to join in as much or as little as they wish.
Providing quality care
The Heathers is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who regularly visit and inspect our service to ensure we meet all required standards. Their reports are always available for anyone who would like to learn more about the quality of care we provide.
